Premarital Counselling & Guidance

I offer premarital counselling and guidance that blends evidence-based therapeutic modalities with the values and teachings of the 12ER Shia Islamic tradition. This service is designed to help individuls or engaged couples explore key relational foundations such as emotional communication, conflict resolution, spiritual alignment, and mutual expectations. By integrating psychological insight with spiritual guidance, the process supports couples in building a secure, compassionate, and God-conscious foundation for their marriage.

Please note: This service can be accessed by individuals who want to build these skills and self-awareness before thinking about marriage which is highly reccommended.

My Approach:
  • Explore Core Beliefs and Values Facilitate open dialogue around religious, cultural, and personal values to ensure alignment—or respectful understanding—of differences that may impact long-term compatibility and family life.

  • Assess Emotional and Relational Readiness Help each individual identify their emotional patterns, attachment styles, love languages and communication tendencies using tools like genograms, reflective prompts, to build self-awareness and relational insight.

  • Develop Skills, Not Just Insight Integrate practical exercises to enhance conflict resolution, emotional regulation, active listening, and empathy—preparing couples for real-life challenges beyond the theory.

  • Uncover Family-of-Origin Influences Encourage reflection on family dynamics, unspoken expectations, and inherited relationship models to prevent unconscious repetition and foster healthier boundaries.

  • Integrate Faith and Future Planning Use Islamic teachings (e.g. Qur’anic verses and teachings of the Ahlulbayt (as) on spousal roles and compassion) alongside discussions on roles, intimacy, finances, and parenting, weaving spirituality into both emotional and logistical preparation.
